Dale Sakai
Managing Director         

Dale Sakai is a founding partner of the Incyte Group, which provides Strategy Consulting Services to the technology industry. Incyte’s proprietary strategy tools help technology companies increase their valuation and profitability through a better understanding of their markets, technology and operations.

Mr. Sakai is recognized as an industry leading strategist with over twenty years of general management experience in the technology industry ranging from large companies such as IBM to start-ups backed by venture capitalists and investment banks such as Kleiner Perkins and Goldman Sachs.

At IBM Mr. Sakai was involved in the restructuring and repositioning of the company in the 90’s. As COO of both Data Base Systems with annual revenue of $1.3B and Application Development Software with annual revenue of $1.7B Mr. Sakai improved profitability by 27%. As Chief Strategy Officer at Active Software, a Kleiner Perkins company, Mr. Sakai helped establish the Application Integration market. After repositioning the company and a successful IPO, Active Software was acquired by WebMethods for $1.3B. As CEO of Confer Software, a Goldman Sachs company, Mr. Sakai helped establish the EHealth market while restructuring and recapitalizing the company. Confer Software was acquired by Quovtix.

Mr. Sakai’s extensive strategy and operating experience spans a wide range of technology sectors including systems software, application software, software service providers, communications, consumer software, hardware and semiconductors as well as across the functional spectrum—marketing, sales, services, business development, finance, research, product development and manufacturing.

Mr. Sakai holds a BA in Physics from Amherst College, a BS in Engineering from Stanford University and a Masters in Management Science from Stanford University.


Bob Richardson
Managing Director

Bob Richardson is a founding partner of the Incyte Group, which provides Strategy Consulting Services to the technology industry. Mr. Richardson brings to the Incyte Group more than 20 years of product strategy and development experience in the high technology industry.

In 2001 Mr. Richardson founded Conexus, a privately held company that provides high performance enterprise computing systems and services to large customers such as Bank of America, Michelin, BEA Systems, Motorola and webMethods.

From 1997 to 2001 Mr. Richardson was Director of Solutions for Active Software and webMethods. In this capacity, Mr. Richardson led an advanced technology team that accelerated early customer adoption by formulating and deploying solutions from the companies’ core technology for customers such as GE, Ford, HP and FedEx.

During the early 90’s, as Senior Strategist and Engineer for IBM Software, Mr. Richardson’s usage of analytic tools was responsible for the reprioritization of IBM’s software investment levels and the development of a new corporate software pricing strategy. Using market analytics Mr. Richardson was also responsible for the repositioning of IBM database from a proprietary mainframe focus to an open multi-platform database. Additionally, Mr. Richardson’s team was responsible for developing IBM’s DB2 Universal Database, which reversed IBM’s declining trend in database market share.

Prior to IBM, Mr. Richardson as CIO and in other IT roles, gained extensive experience in developing, deploying and managing large scale IT solutions at Motorola, Trilogy Systems, National Semiconductor, ROLM and Siemens.

Mr. Richardson holds a BS in Engineering Physics and Mathematics from Regis University and an MBA with concentration in Finance and Econometrics from the University of Chicago.
